Stars Speak Out On The Passing of Prop 8

While this Tuesday , was a historic night for America in electing an African American president, it was a bit bittersweet . because of the prop that banned same-sex marriage had passed here in California , one that many celebrities , like Ellen DeGeneres, Madonna, and Molly Ringwald educated the public to vote no , giving equal rights to everyone , but not everyone got outside their thinking bubble Tuesday, after the results Ellen DeGeneres gave a quote saying,"Watching the returns on election night was an amazing experience. Barack Obama is our new president. Change is here. I, like millions of Americans, felt like we had taken a giant step towards equality. We were watching history. "This morning, when it was clear that Proposition 8 had passed in California, I can’t explain the feeling I had. I was saddened beyond belief. Here we just had a giant step towards equality and then on the very next day, we took a giant step away. "I believe one day a 'ban on gay marriage' will sound totally ridiculous. In the meantime, I will continue to speak out for equality for all of us.", Madonna also sounded off briefly at her concert in Dodger Stadium last night saying,"I am very sad to hear we didn't win Proposition 8," she said, according to a concertgoer. "But we will not give up the fight. No, we will not. Never! If we got an African-American in the White House, we can have gay marriages.", Pete Wentz and Lance Bass had also spoken up on the gay rights issue, Pete saying "Many people were intimidated on this issue due to the scary misleading communications on the other side," Wentz said in a statement. "I believe that this is, and has always been, a civil rights issue. We should not allow inequality like this in America."other celebs like Melisssa Ethridge, Samuel L. Jackson, Steven Spielberg , Barbara Streisand and Brad Pitt ,even going as far to say him and Angelina will not get married until same sex marriage is legal all across America, and here is one of my favorite people Sophia Bush speaking out on the issue. If people just took time to think about others and not be so close minded it could be a better world, Ian.
